Events Hello Life

Goodbye 2015 & Hello 2016!

By on January 1, 2016
2015 is about to end and it’s time to look back on the past year – the good and bad. To be completely honest with you this year hasn’t been the best for me. Initially, I planned on mentioning the downsides but the more I thought about it I felt like it wouldn’t be a good way to end the year which means I’m going to focus on my highlights only! So what happened this year? Apparently not so much but the big events that happened are some I’m genuinely proud of.

Role Playing Convention Cologne

RPC, Role Playing Convention Cologne, Square Enix, FFXIV

Thanks to Square Enix I was able to attend RPC for the first time and I was blown away by the atmosphere and how nice the visitors were. My team was full of friends that I made at Gamescom last year and it’s always a blast to see them again. Over the weekend, I had the chance to talk to thousand of visitors including fans of the Final Fantasy series and others who never heard of it before. I love being able to share my passion with everyone and, therefore, these conventions always mean a great deal to me.

Gamescom 2015

Around August one of my dreams came true. Gamescom 2014 has been amazing and it’s an honour that I got to know so many amazing people who share the same interests. Thank you for the hour long talks before, during and after gamescom and all the awesome moments we had together.  -2014

Gamescom 2015 – where did the time go? Thanks to Square Enix (again!) and Final Fantasy XIV I had another amazing year at Gamescom as a Community Ambassador. I’m still speechless and can’t describe how incredible the convention was. That’s why I’m sharing the official video with you and hope it’ll help you understand my excitement. This year was even better than last year and I hope Gamescom 2016 will be better still!

Rainbow Direction & 1DFansGive

Okay, the truth is out: I’m a Directioner and proud to be a part of the fandom!
festival bracelets, rainbow direction, 1DFansGive, directionerThe year has been a rollercoaster for us but there are two projects that make me proud and need to be mentioned. Rainbow Direction helped create a safe space for LGBTQ+ members of the fandom and I love to see how much this project helped. If you check out their Twitter account and Website you can see how much their projects improved the mood within the fandom and made everyone feel welcome on tour around the world!
After joining the fandom, I noticed another trend that is a big part of the fandom. Every year there are charity drives for each of the boys which support a charity the boys are affiliated with. For example, the fandom managed to raise $28,425+ for the Eden Dora Trust in honour of Louis’ Birthday. Overall 1DFansGive raised over $168,000+ for charities over the last three years. I’ve never seen any other fandom do this before and I know many people sadly don’t know about these projects. Hopefully, more people will start talking about the positive things the fandom does and stop treating us like bratty teenagers.

Birthday & loved ones

2015 is the year I cut ties with many toxic ‘friends’ I’ve met over the years. It’s not worth the hassle and hurt to chase after people who don’t put any kind of effort into a friendship or relationship. Maybe this year has been a little lonelier but the people who are left are the ones I treasure the most. No matter what happens I can count on them whenever I need them and they always manage to cheer me up and put a smile on my face. Distance sometimes doesn’t matter and those who are far away feel closer than those who are right next to you. Thank you for staying with me and making everything I do just that extra bit special

There were many ups and downs but I feel like this year has been a milestone for me. I’m finally proud of who I am and the only thing I can say is that it’s worth to chase your dreams and believe in yourself. It’s never going to be easy but when you get there it’s worth it. You’re the only person who’s perfect at being you. If others around you can’t appreciate you the way you are then they’re not worth your time and effort. Letting some people go might be difficult at first but in the end it saves a lof of heartache and sadness. I’m still scared to fail but now I know that I’m not alone and never will be. There’s no need to feel ashamed and it’s okay to not always be strong. – 2014

For 2016 I have a few New Year’s resolutions but I don’t want to share the personal ones publicly yet. Generally speaking, I want to try to be happier, healthier and appreciate the little things in life more. I wish you a happy New Year and the best start into 2016! x
